Our Eco Velvet Has Had an Upgrade – Now with FR Backing!

At Poodle & Blonde, our much-loved Eco Velvet has quickly become a customer favourite, so much so that it has now officially replaced our cotton velvet as our core velvet offering. Chosen for its luxurious feel, rich print quality, and sustainable credentials, it's become the go-to fabric across both residential and commercial projects.

Thanks to its growing popularity, we’ve received more and more requests for an FR (Fire Retardant) version. After lots of consideration and careful development, we’re excited to announce that our Eco Velvet has had an upgrade: it now comes with an FR backing as standard!

This new version maintains all the qualities you already love while making the fabric even more versatile and ready for a wider range of interiors, without the need for additional treatment.

So, what does this mean?
As we transition to the new base, there will be a short period where any samples you receive may still be from our current stock. However, any orders placed during this time will be fulfilled using the new, FR-backed Eco Velvet.

What’s the difference?
The FR backing makes the fabric fire-retardant, eliminating the need for additional FR treatment. It’s still the same high-quality, upholstery-grade velvet, with a few added benefits:

• Colour match: We’ve ensured a perfect match across all designs.
  
  

• Lead time: Still printed within our usual 5 working days.
  
  

• Pile: The FR-backed version has a slightly shorter pile, which we love! It’s still soft and strokeable, but with zero grinning (meaning the backing won’t show through the print).
  
  

What about pricing?
During this soft launch period, we’re keeping our Eco Velvet pricing the same. Once we’ve fully moved over to the new base (expected mid-May), there will be a price increase to reflect the upgrade.

Prefer the original base?
No problem! If you'd prefer your fabric without FR backing, just contact us at enquiries@poodleandblonde.com before placing your order. As long as we still have stock, we’ll be happy to print on the original base for you.
